In those cases, I need to identify the triggers behind their smoking habit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Questions for Clients<\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019ll ask, \u201cHow many cigarettes do you smoke per day?\u201d The answer might be 30, 20, or 10. I\u2019ll also ask, \u201cHave you ever stopped smoking before?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clients usually respond with something like:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, I quit once for two years.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019ve quit six times, each time for about two months.\u201d<br \/>\nFor someone who quit for two years, I\u2019ll follow up with: \u201cHow did that experience go, and why did you start again?\u201d The replies often include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>My wife left me.<\/li>\n<li>My business collapsed.<\/li>\n<li>I was in an accident.<\/li>\n<li>I had a lot of stress.<\/li>\n<li>I help smokers move past the idea of relapsing by reframing their thinking. I tell them, \u201cToday, you\u2019ll change the habit of thought that drives the action.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Personalized Approach<\/h3>\n<p>Each session is highly personalized. I ask, \u201cWhy do you want to stop now?\u201d Responses vary from health to personal relationships:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I\u2019m trying to get pregnant, and smoking isn\u2019t helping.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m about to have surgery, and my doctor won\u2019t proceed until I quit.<\/li>\n<li>In cosmetic surgery, smokers\u2019 skin tends to deteriorate around the wounds.<\/li>\n<li>My wife is having a baby, and she won\u2019t allow me to smoke in the house anymore.<\/li>\n<li>Everyone at the office is frustrated because I\u2019m the only one taking smoking breaks.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m afraid if I quit smoking, I\u2019ll gain weight.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Join me to Make Positive Changes<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Together, we will work to nurture a permanent disinterest in smoking.
